Does anyone know what this mysterious icon means that has started appearing on my Fitbit Inspire 3.
It looks like a white rectangle with a line crossed through it.
it appears from the top and then disappears when I move my hand to wake the tracker.

Hi, @gmeikle67 , that icon indicates that your Fitbit has lost Bluetooth connection with your phone. If the icon disappears that suggests that the disconnection was only momentary.

Good day and thank you for your reply.
That makes sense but I have never seen this before.
I tend not to have the Fitbit connected to my phone all the time to save battery life from the Bluetooth but have only noticed this recently.

Mine started doing the same thing after I did the update.

@gmeikle67 This is a very recent addition. You can turn this feature off. Swipe down on the screen and tap on the Settings app. Tap on Display settings. Look for Status tray or something like that. Toggle it off.
Just so you know, this feature includes four status indicators: your DND is on, you are in sleep mode, your battery is critically low, and the Bluetooth disconnected. But the toggle is all on or all off.
