Not Auto Recognizing Swim

Since the latest Inspire 3 Firmware Update {210.26} my swim is Auto Recognized as Rowing Machine.  Additionally - Rowing Machine is not on the list of Exercises that are Auto Recognized so it can't be turned off.

It would seem that if the device {Inspire 3} is in the water it would not be a Rowing Machine.  Go figure.

Also, now when it recognizes Walking you have to manually stop the timer.  Why doesn't it recognize that you stopped?

Ideas? Thoughts?

When was the V210.26 FW released for the Inspire 3?  

My Inspire 3 is still running V194.91 FW and there is no indication in the app that an updated FW release is available for download.

Hi Bill - It was either Wed or Thur {7/24 - 7/25} - I received the message in the iPhone App. as new Firmware is available.

Yep, same here. It was bad enough before with the swimming, would only record half a swim. And now you can't stop the auto recognition for the walking. Tried a number of times.

@bobmunder   The firmware update made some significant changes with the Inspire 3.  It expanded a feature that is part of the Exercise app and is different from the auto-recognized activities (that list of seven).  It is an auto detection and it opens the Exercise app.  This feature can open the exercise app if it senses the following activities: walking, running, biking, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.  I don't know if your Inspire 3 had 40+ shortcuts before, but it does now.  All of the shortcuts have been moved to the Inspire 3.

Here's how to turn it off for rowing:

• Swipe left right on your Inspire 3 to your Exercise app and open it
• Swipe up to find Rowing on your shortcut list and tap on it
• Swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen
• Look for Rowing detect (or something similar) and toggle it off
• You should repeat this for any other shortcut that might bother you or lead to the wrong exercise being tracked

I think your Fitbit will auto-recognize your swim once this feature is turned off.

@Bill_209   This firmware just started rolling out and a similar update is rolling out for the Sense 2 and Versa 4.  It might take a couple weeks for this to roll out to all users.

I'm not familiar with the Exercise app - where do I find that?  Also, if I turn off all the "Shortcuts" will the Inspire 3 go back to "Auto Recognizing" Swim and then stop the timer when I'm finished swimming?  That's how it used to work.  To me, that's much more practical.  Thanks again.

@bobmunder   You swipe to the left or right on the Inspire 3 screen one to two times until you see an orange running icon and it says Exercise.  Tap on that to open it.

@LZeeW   - After tapping on "Exercise" the only option for the selected exercise is to "Start", set a "Goal", set "Laps" etc.  I do not see any option to Disable the exercise   Am I missing something?

Do you think that will affect the normal "swim" auto detection?

@bobmunder   I use a Sense 2, not an Inspire 3, so my swiping options are different.  My Sense 2 is getting this new option, but I haven't received it yet.  But I have Walk detect.  On my Sense 2, I have an option that you don't have after Laps, then GPS, then the "Detect" option, then more choices.  Did you swipe all the way?

I know there are other Product Experts who use an Inspire 3.  I hope one of them will chime in soon, if you can't find the setting.

Update:  We were typing at the same time.  Yes, I think your Fitbit will go back to your normal swim auto-recognition.  To be sure, turn them off for the other options, too.

@LZeeW  No luck with swim auto detection - I went through all 41 exercises and turned off "Auto Start" & "Auto Stop" for every exercise that had that option.  Most don't.  I then reset the device.  Anyway, I went swimming - it was logged as "Kayaking"  -   Kayaking does not have the option to turn off "Auto Start/Stop".  Also it did not auto stop when I stopped swimming - 

Unfortunately it did not go back to the normal swim auto-recognition  - Either I'm missing something of this FW release has significant issues -

Is there a way to revert to the old version of the FirmWare?

@bobmunder   I'm sorry, but you can't go back to a previous firmware version.  I'm also sorry that my answers didn't help you.  I hope another user can help you.

Maybe swimming isn't that popular!I can't record any swimming at all.The water lock won't stay on. Even if I use the swimming activity it only records a lap or two in 5k. Hopeless.Sent from my Galaxy

Greetings - Here is a little update on what I've tried - It seems that if the exercise / activity is in the recent history of the Excerise portion of the Inspire 3 the activity {assuming it one of the 7 that gets "Auto Recognized" on the phone} will "auto start" & "auto stop" correctly. Swim distance and time were correct.  Walking distance is off - time was correct.   It has worked for both my swim and my walk even though I have "Auto Start" & "Auto Stop" turned off for Walk {Swim does not have that option} on the Inspire 3.  Hope this makes sense.

If this is indeed the solution it would have been nice if Fitbit released some documentation with a major Firmware update.

Also - I do think swimming is popular - it made the "Auto Recognize" list - hahaha

Regarding "water lock" I can't help.  If it doesn't stay on it must recognize it's wet  to turn on -  I have no issues with water lock..

I am still running with 194.91 FW and there is still no 210.26 FW available for my wife and I to download, so maybe Google has had so many reported issues with this 210.26 FW update that they halted the FW rollout to fix the issues with another update.

In an attempt to fix the issue I deleted the app an downloaded from the App Store and it was the new FW version 

If you guys want the new FW version you can try a reset or restart on the Inspire device ???

The Inspire 3 device FW can only be downloaded when a pink dot shows up next to the Inspire 3 icon in app.  That only happens when Google rolls out the FW in a controlled fashion to various regions.
