Not tracking steps

My fitbit inspire 3 is nit tracking steps accurately.

I have tested a few different ways now, inside wrist, outside wrist, other hand.

I have reset the watch. Restarted the watch.

Now I am confused what to do. It isn't just a little bit out, I went on a dog walk with my mum today and wore a pedometer and she wore her garmin. Both of those showed around 6500 steps, my fitbit logged 4000 roughly.

I got this fitbit for the battery life but it's pointless if it doesn't track my sleep (although that got better when I switched to wearing it inside wrist, maybe the tattoos?) Or my steps. This will be throwing everything out!

Anyone have any suggestions or similar issues. Can you send a fitbit back a couple months after getting it? I bought it I'm currys.

Thanks

@Chooge When you're walking your dog, are you holding the dog leash in the same hand/arm that your Fitbit is on? I had this happen when I would walk my dog with my left hand which is where I wear my Fitbit and not all the steps get counted because the arm isn't swinging properly.

Yes, tattoos can effect the heart rate monitor and therefore, it would mess with the sleep settings.

Hi Heather,

Thanks for your suggestion. No I wear my fitbit on my left arm and hold my dog with my right.

Today also was a beach wall with the tide out so wasn't holding the leash at all as he was off running with the other dogs.

I have tried it holding mt arm up looking at tbe display whilst walking, walking normally, walking exaggerating my wrist and walking with my hands in my pocket. All ways were hit and miss. I have filmed it too to show me walking with arm swinging but steps not tracking.

Could it be anything else?

Thanks again.
