Hi Fitbit community,
I am working with a class of 10 students. They are using Fitbit Inspire 3 to track their sleep and address scientific questions about their environment impact on sleep. However, when I asked them to export their data to excel, most of the sleep data shown in the app did not show in the export. For example REM sleep, sleep duration, light sleep total, and various other variables were missing from the exported data. How can they get their full sleep reports exported to an excel sheet?

It might be possible to get more data using the Web API. You could have a quick look there to see it if might provide what you need. Unfortunately, getting data from the Web API isn't easy.

Hi @ProfSleepClass & @Gondwana, thank you for your responses.
I'm glad to explain to you the type of sleep data you are able to collect in an excel report. Thank you @Gondwana for your contribution.
In the data your students can export, should be included their sleep schedule, minutes asleep and awake, number of times they woke up, amount of time spent in bed, time spent in each sleep stage.
If their sleep data don't include time spent in each sleep stage, it may be possible that they aren't being tracked.
As a suggestion i would recommend that you take a look at our help article What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages? right below the section Why aren’t my sleep stages showing up today?
