We're returning the Inspire 3. It won't pair.

My wife has been a happy inspire 2 user for years. We bought the inspire 3. We can't pair it no matter what we try. I am returning it tomorrow and wondering if we should even bother since we've wasted 3 hours on this now. Does this product actually work?

We always get as far as "Something went wrong" after putting the code.

We've tried the following:

  • Uninstall/Reinstall of the fitbit app.
  • Tracker charging while attempting to pair
  • Checked the bluetooth settings on her android phone to make sure it is not paired with "other" trackers.
  • Her phone has connections to a speaker and the car. Nothing else.
  • Phone restarted with bluetooth off. We let the Fitbit app control the bluetooth and only initiate pairing from the app.
  • Cleared app cache (irrelevant since we also tried #1)
  • In some cases the "code" only show up if you pop the inspire 3 off the charger. So we quickly write the code down and then put it back on the charger. The screen is either blank or shows the date as 01/01; at one point it showed "pairig" but then the error message "Something went wrong" shows up and it asks to try again. We try again and nothing happens, there is often no code.

This is the most basic function and it doesn't work.

The only thing we haven't tried is a "factory reset" of the inspire 3. All of the youtube videos show how to perform the reset assuming the tracker has menus to peruse. Ours doesn't because it's either shows the date, time and battery % or a message to download the app. "swiping" up or down doesn't do anything.

This is a last ditch effort to see if there is something else we missed as I am returning this tomorrow. But even if we did, it shouldn't take this long and be this complicated to set this up so we are having second thoughts about even buying a replacement.

Does anyone have advice? Thank you.
