step tracking wildly inaccurate

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: device gave me the exact same step count. not possible because I was desk working most of one of the days.  This morning when I went for a walk, it added my steps to yesterday's total to give me 4000+ steps and 2 miles.   Went back to look a bit later and now I have only 2859 steps and 1.2 miles.  Syncing with iPhone. What the heck is going on?  When will the software be fixed!  Or will it?

Anyone else have this type of glitch?

My Inspire 3 also gives same data for multiple days, inaccurately. It’s almost as if it defaults to an algorithm based on previous entries. I’m on my 3rd Fitbit and am running out of patience with the faulty device. I’m certain there must be better trackers available.
