I have recently purchased a Fitbit Inspire HR to prove to my cardiologist that my pacemaker is not set correctly. Unfortunately the heart rate measurement is unusable as it it unreliable (gives erroneous high readings compared with actual pulse count) as it is presumably subject to noise from my arm muscles (moving fingers, rotating wrist, grabbing, washing hands etc.). The corollary to these high readings is that all the statistics are pie in the sky. It would be great if this limitation could be eliminated using artificial intelligence to learn a true pulse profile from the sensor and then, using this mask, filter out the noise.

Hello @DerekK while the Fitbit does keep track of our activities, it's not rated as a medical device. You can read more about it in the Terms of Service. I'm sure your doctor would know of a device you could use or prehaps put a monitor on you for a short time to determine if your pacemaker is set correctly. It's good to see you're keeping an eye on your health. I wish some members of my family were as diligent.

I am well aware that the Fitbit Inspire HR is not a medical device but I would at least expect it to be vaguely accurate. On many occasions when I am busy it reads 85 to 109 bpm but on an actual pulse count over 1 minute the pulse is 70 bpm. The only way of getting a true reading is to keep ones wrist absolutely still and relaxed for 1 minute.

Hi Derek - I bought the Inspire HR for my wife. I have an Alta HR and she liked the HR feature so I figured the Inspire would be equivalent or better. Well it's not. The Inspire has been very disappointing as it bounces all over the place and generally reads higher than it should. I've even had both on my wrist at the same time and the Inspire is 20-30 BPM higher. She'll be in fat burn cardio sitting on the couch watching TV. I've been pleased with the Alta HR but something is up with the Inspire. I'm hoping Fitbit is paying attention! Another annoyance is the battery life of the Inspire, but I digress...
