My Fitbit Ionic was purchased in June 2018. It worked great for the first year, but started having problems this year. The unit occasionally stops registering steps and distance. I will notice after walking a few miles that the steps and distance has not changed. In these situations, I always check for system and app updates, turn off/on the Bluetooth, and force quit the app. These steps have never worked. Restarting the unit has usually does work, though, and, when it doesn’t, uninstalling and re-installing the app from the iPhone and then restarting the Fitbit usually does the trick. Each time, the Fitbit would be fine again for several weeks. So I didn’t think much of it. However, lately, these fixes have only been holding for a few minutes or a few days. I even tried changing out the face and then a factory reset recently, but the problem persists. I’m not looking to complain. I just want my Fitbit to work again so I can get back out there! Please help.

I’ve got exactly the and issue and Fitbit won’t do about it. I’ve simply been told that it’s down to “one of those things” and they can’t put a reason as to why this happens!
The long and short of it is as follows...
1. If you have a faulty device, like most of us do, you need to contact support and hope you’re under warranty. If you’re under warranty, you stand some chance of getting a device replacement. The support simply tell you to factory rest the device and hope for the best. If that fails, you might get sent a replacement.
2. If you’re out of warranty, you’re going to get a discount at best. A discount on another device that will fail in time, and then repeat the circle of Fitbit life...
Good luck but I think you’re in the same boat as me and screwed.
