I have noticed couple of instances so far, where activity minutes are captured but not categorized appropriately.
1) Session 1 - I started session in an exercise (tennis) mode and it captured and categorized activity as tennis.
2) Session 2 - I preferred auto recognition of activity, it worked fine, captured and categorized appropriately.
3) Session 3 and 4 - As auto recognition worked fine in session 2, I preferred continuing same way for Session 3 and 4 (each of them were more than 15 to 20 minutes). But to my surprise, it captured them as simple activity minutes. It didn't do any categorization, nor it allows me to fix it manually.
Any suggestions? This inconsistency is little annoying.

What was the activity it didnt recognise? Was it tennis again? If it was, smart track wont recognise it as tennis, but might pick it up as sports, but might not, depending on the intensity of the game. But let us know WHAT the activity was when it did recognise it and when it didnt.

On looking further post exercising / sport on day 4 of using Fitbit ionic, and still trying to understand dashboards better. Now I am little bit confused as to which activities it missed to categorized, session 1 / 2 or 3? It surely missed one, not sure which one.
Dashboard lists the activities, it doesn't say start time and end time. It just provides one time, is that Start or End time?

I figured by doing a quick self test of small walk, the time documented is start of an activity. I wish it had start time and end time.

I am answering my own queries now as exploring more and more... 🙂
I could find start and end time of a categorized activity by going in edit exercise details option.

☺ You are going well! Yes, start time is listed and then length of activity, so I suppose they figure it is easy enought to work out your finish time if you want that.
Did you work out what activities were not recognised?

Post doing some research on data and what I recollect, I do see missing on swimming session of roughly 10 min on 20th Dec missing in exercise tracking as well as activity details. This session was executed by manually selecting swimming mode, had 8 laps of 25 meters each. I am guessing, this must be visible as swimming session in exercise tracking as it was manually selected exercise mode, it may or may not be in activity section due to 10 min pre-requisite.
I see subsequent swimming sessions captured appropriately in exercise.

Noticed two more issue for todays swimming sessions
1 - Ionic crashed during 4th lap. I had selected swimming mode in exercise tracking, and noticed that during 4th lap, device was shutting down or rebooting. Not sure what may have caused it.
2 - Started another session of swimming by manually starting exercise swimming mode, this time 16 laps of 20 meters each, lasting roughly 12 minutes. It did capture stats, but some how calories data seem incorrect, and most importantly it was not awarded as activity. See snap below.
