I got a new Ionic after the battery died in my old one (18 months old). The new one is on a later version of the OS with an ugly pull-down menu that covers up my notifications. Anyway, my issue is that the Bluetooth Classic won't stay on. I pair it, it works, 5 mins later it's disconnected. When I go back into the Bluetooth settings on the Ionic the new "Restore Music Controls" option has changed itself to "off". Every. Time. Did I get a faulty Ionic or is this because of the new OS that everyone's complaining about? This thing is less than a week old, need to know if I should return it. Thanks.

Hello @Amadeo84, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which mobile device are you using with your Ionic device? When was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then? There are other Bluetooth devices nearby when this occur?
If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article: Why can't I control music with my Fitbit device? and take in consideration all the information that's specified there to check if there's a missing requirement that's affecting the connection between your mobile device and your Ionic.
Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Hi Ricardo,
After browsing through the forums and the Fitbit reddit, it looks like the same issue a lot of other people are having. The Bluetooth "Restore Music Controls" setting keeps reverting to "Off" after I pair it. It works for a few minutes after pairing, and then disconnects. There's no way to go from "Pair" to "On" because if you tap it again it immediately goes to "Off" and breaks the connection. Switching it back to "On" will not make it reconnect. It has nothing to do with my device, only the new Fitbit OS settings. I'm using a Galaxy S8 and have no other Bluetooth devices nearby. I've gone through all the help articles including that one multiple times, and have tried reconnecting it about a dozen times since this started. Completely removed and re-added the Ionic as well. Please escalate this to your developers so we can get a fix out ASAP. I was without a FitBit for over a month while dealing with the warranty issue on the last one, and now that I have a brand new Ionic I can't even control my music with it. Super frustrating that I was forced to go to this new untested OS as part of the setup. As much as I was looking forward to new features, there's nothing new here and it broke critical functionality.
Here are links to other people experiencing the same issue (both Versa and Ionic), going back to when this update was first released:

Please have this escalated so that a fix can get pushed out ASAP. If there's no resolution to this soon I am going to have to return this new Ionic and find something else that will actually work, and I don't want to have to do that because I otherwise love my FitBit. Thank you.

This has been an issue for over a month...with a lot of documentation of others having the problem...Fitbit is not doing anything to fix this. I have gone back and forth with support for over a month now and because I'm just out of warranty, the best they can do is give me a 25% off... It's obviously an software issue. What I wanted was a " we are aware of the issue and are actively working on the problem" what I got was, did you factory reset, did you follow our support guides, did you jump through hoops to get absolutely nowhere...it's ridiculous. Good luck, but I'm leaving the Fitbit community as soon as I can find a viable replacement.
Until then...I am going to be a thorn because they can not simply admit they messed something up.

Great news everyone! I just installed the latest firmware update (70.7.14), https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/Fitbit-OS-4-1-Firmware-Release-70-7-14/td-p/3931440 and the Bluetooth is working again! Thank you so much!
(Yeah, that deserved all caps. I'm excited. Merry Christmas everybody!!)
Gonna go dance all over the house and come back to my still-working music controls now...
Thank you to the devs who fixed this and to whoever lit a fire under them. Assuming they didn't have it fixed before I started griping, which they probably did given how fast this was. Heh.
❤️

I also installed the newest firmware and reconnected the classic connection for music controls, but the behavior persists. I can get music controls for a little bit, then both my phone and Ionic will show as being connected and music controls will disappear. Same behavior as the previous firmware version...
