Just wanted to share..
I've now had 2 Ionics, i clearly remember having no issues on both devices for the first couple of days. As time goes on the cutting out begins, and gradually gets worse.
My replacement is almost a couple of weeks old. The day I set it up and tested music playback I was able to hold my fitbit behind my lower back and there was no issues or cutting out. It was working as expected.
2 weeks later I cant even walk without constant disconnections, using x-trainer or elliptical machine at the gym that has direct line of site between the ionic and the headphones constantly cuts out.
Both ionics have behaved exactly the same way.
I am now 100% convinced this is a software issue.

@driver111 I hope you're doing well! It's unfortunate to hear that you are experiencing the "cutting" of music once again with Ionic. Thanks for reporting this and sharing.
There is a new OS version for Ionic (Fitbit OS 2.1). It was just released, so please update it once you get the chance. If you haven't received the update yet; you should in the following days as this is a progressive roll out. Once you do, please give me your feedback about how the connection works with music.
Thanks for your patience. Keep me posted!

I have a Fitbit ionic and the Fitbit flyers with the latest software and I am having this problem also. The first mile of my walk was fine the last 3/4 was full of dropouts and song packet losses. Is there a fix for this? Or is the ionic with the recommended fitbit flyer headset flawed? Any help would be appreciated

@ealthoff @Ralph1973 I hope you're doing well! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with Ionic connection with Bluetooth headphones. Thanks for downloading the latest firmware version.
Please try the following:
You can also check that there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby that may be interrupting the signal on your watch and headphones.
Try that out and let me know hoe it goes!

@Ralph1973 Thanks for your reply and for trying those steps in order to sort this out.
Well, I'm glad to read that is is working properly now. Something else that may affect the connectivity is the environment in which you run/walk. Did you changed anything?
Let me know if this continues to happen!
