Brand new fitbit won't charge

Just received the Ionic. It doesn't seem to take a charge or have any indication that it is charging, even when attached to the charger. What am I supposed to see, and what should I be doing.

You need to charge it for at least 2 hours. Then set it up. You will not see anything until its set up

Nope. The Fitbit never starts charging. No vibration, no indication that it is charging, nothing like that. Left it on the charger overnight and no charge.

@D_BACHMAN Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting the situation experienced with Ionic not charging.

Are you still experiencing the same?

I'd recommend performing a restart on Ionic. This has helped other users in the past so it is worth giving it a try.

Please try this out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Just thought I'd chime in on this issue...I too just received a brand new Ionic purchased from Amazon. It never turned on. I tried multiple charging devices and left it plugged in over night. This morning I contacted Fitbit and they walked me through the troubleshooting steps, which I had already done from reading this forum. But, I did it with the help person anyway (who was very pleasant). When it still did not work, she told me I had two options: I could video tape me troubleshooting the Ionic, send it to her via email, ship the defective Ionic to their warehouse, then they would send me another one; OR send it back via Amazon. The Amazon process is far easier so I chose that option (the new watch has already been processed and I should receive it tomorrow). I'm hoping for better luck with my new one, but based on reading this forum and my experience, there seems to be an issue with this product.

OP here...this is exactly what happened to me. Their help people asked for the video, then said they would replace the unit and to send it to them w/o the bands and charger...seemed easier just to send it back to Amazon. But they were nice. I'll try another one, but since I'm going away, I have to wait to reorder.

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting this problem with Ionic not turning on. Thanks for also sharing the workaround that helped you out.

I'm glad the Amazon option was easier for you and that they are now replacing your Ionic with a new unit. Please follow these steps to set it up once you receive it. I'm sure this new unit will work perfectly for you.

@D_BACHMAN I hope you're doing well! Thanks for choosing Fitbit to process the replacement for your Ionic. I'm sure the new unit will also work perfectly for you!

Update: I received a new Ionic from Amazon today and it works as advertised. Now that I have a new, working one, it's apparent that the one I originally received had already been returned before. The original Ionic did not have a plastic protector around the watch itself and the charging cable was not packaged (it was loosely laying in the box). The bands were also not bound. Perhaps this was just an anomoly, but perhaps Amazon should institute better quality control so they do not continue to ship defective items.

Thanks for the input everyone.

@SunsetRunner Thanks for your reply and for providing that information about the original Ionic. I'm also glad to hear that the new one is working properly.

The situation described with the original Ionic purchased at Amazon is not normal. It shouldn't be like that. Thanks for reporting this. Did Amazon replaced your Ionic?

I have the same issue. I just received my second Fitbit Ionic replacement in two weeks and when I take it out of the box the battery shows 0%. I plugged it in hours ago to a USB in a wall outlet. No indication that it's charging. I plugged it into my laptop 45 minutes ago - same thing. I switched charger - still nothing. Tried resetting the device but it's just dead.  I'm guessing this one will also be sent back to Amazon. I don't even know if I want a replacement any more.
