Can someone please tell me there’s is something wrong with my ionic ????
how can I have possibly burnt 886 calories from midnight. I have only been awake 45 minutes and have stab drown drinking tea. Surely this can’t be right?
my Mrs has been up for 4 hours, walked 3128 steps and only burnt 699 calories. I know she is only half the weight of me but surely this is wrong ?

I think it's working fine.
As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing is the total BMR calories burned since midnight.

Thanks for the reply steve. Im know im a big guy (18st) but the last 3 days it says i have burnt 4000 calories and I've only walked to dogs twice (small walks) my intake the last 3 ays has been about 2500 calories (its still xmas) If it is right i should be losing weight at a rate knots but im not (i dont expect to because i dont think there is a chance i am burning 4000 calories lol)

It's worth checking that your profile settings for age, height, weight etc are set correctly at https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit as these will directly affect the calorie calculation.
It's also worth googling a BMR calculator that you could use to see how that stacks up with your fitbit numbers. For info, the fitbit uses the Mifflin St Jeor formula if the calculator asks for it.

All my setting are correct steve. im 41, 6ft 2 and weigh 250 lbs
It just doesn't seem right that its telling me i can eat 3000 calories a day and lose weight, NO CHANCE lol, i wish i could

I'm not sure what else to suggest. I'm around 125 pounds and my daily BMR calories are around 1400 with my average total daily calorie burn of 2000 with light activity.
Don't forget that you need to eat 3500 calories less than you burn to lose just one pound.
The only other reason for getting calories too high is if your tracked step count was way too high or if your ionic was tracking your heart rate wrong (thinking you were more active than you are). Do these stats look reasonable?

Stats for steps and heart rate seem normal steve. I think maybe i just have to leave it a week or so and track my food to see if it actually works. i am currently chatting with fitbit support regarding my ionic not tracking my sleep properly, but thats another issue....... Thanks for your help Steve.

Hi there,
As the other person has stated it would be due to age, sex, height, weight and activity. At the stats you've given it is about correct as the heavier and taller you, the more calories you burn, especially as a male.
As stated, double check your settings to see if the data is correctly, also, weigh yourself in the morning after your morning toilet schedule and without clothes (weird, I know, but mainly accurate compared to any other time) and reconfigure your settings to the weight you now are.
You'll need to give it some time after that to see if it is actually working. If not, I'd suggest lowering your weight in the app so that Fitbit can recalculate the calories.
Your body will also burn calories throughout the day so from midnight to now you'll still be burning calories, just not as much as if you were actively exercising.
Hope this helps.
