Hoping someone can help with this. My surge used to display the entire text / iMessage message. The new ionic seems to only display the first line of the message. Is there a setting I am missing or simply a downgrade in functionality from the old watch to the new? I am using an iPhone 6+.

I'm am having the same problem with mine. Whenever tap on the notification it only shows me when it was sent but doesn't reveal the rest of the content of the text.

Me too...I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to view the text message content on my fitbit ionic. All it says is "New Message" and gives a time...no name or actual content.

@Symbionet Fitbit can only display what is on your iPhone's lock screen. If you don't see a message preview on iPhone lock screen, Fitbit will not be able to display it.
First thing to check is that you have previews enabled and on your lock screen. Read this short article on how to "Show Previews" for all apps. And then its possible to customize Preview setting for each app, so from Settings > Notifications you should scroll down to Messages, tap it, and check the Show Previews and other settings for Messages app.

Hope that helps.

@SunsetRunner i have a samsung galaxy and get about three lines of text on my ionic. I know I have the setting to display texts on my lock screen, though I haven't tried turning it off and and seeing if it stops working. Check that yours is on and see if that helps. Sorry I can't help with the above problems but have a similar issue I'd like to throw out there. Specifically for a Samsung Galaxy S5 I do see at least some lines of text for the first text message that comes to my phone but the second third or fourth message that comes it's simply shows up on the ionic saying 2 messages or 3 messages with no text. And I can't see any text on the ionic until I open the messages and read them on my phone. I assume this is some problem or setting in the Android system but was wondering if anyone else had encountered this issue.
