I have several Fitbit’s just got my ICONIC maybe a month ago prior to that the only other waterproof one I had was the flex two and I had the same issue. I want to know how labs are calculated. I swim 2500
yards in a 25 yard pool every single day and get widely varying results. I don’t take breaks except equipment breaks which are probably 10 seconds and that only happens twice. One day it will register or something like 1475 yards in the next day 2650 today you registered under 1400. There is no way I count my laps I know I can be off by a few but this is ridiculous I’m not off by a thousand yards. I don’t know if it has anything to do with stroke length, my strokes are very long In other words I take maybe from 14 to 20 arm lenghts that’s both arms not each, for each length. The number of lstrokes per arm varies with my equipment thar I’m using. It is beyond frustrating I would really like to know how it’s calculated. A friend of mine who also swims takes about 40 or 45 arm length per every 25 yards as a post to my 15 or so to 20 arm links per 25 years she does not have a fit bit so I don’t know how it compares
And when counting sometimes it comes up with an odd number for the number of lapswhich is impossible if you start and stop at the same length of the pool

I’m letting fitbit detect. I’ve set up the pool length. Laps are distance, if I swim 1000 yards I’ve done 40 lengths. My
normal distance is 2,500 yards which is 100 length s 25 x 100. But it’s telling me I’ve done 72 lengths and the number of yards that corresponding number mber of lenghts when I’ve done 100.lenghts. That is a huge time
sifference which I would certainly be aware of. It gives me both yards and lenght. Sometimes the number one f lenghts and yards would indicate that I started at say shallow end and ended in the deep end or vice versa. I never do that
Sometimes the lengths and yards - it gives me both - are close to what I think I’ve done and i figure it’s me. But probable half the time it is way off.

Are you manually starting the swim mode, or letting Fitbit sutodetct?
Have you set up the lap leangth?
Your title is about laps but your asking about distance. Does the lap count, lengths, look correct?
