Damaged charging connection

I was finally able to use my Ionic again after updates (like 6 months ago) that basically crashed it every time I fulled charged it, it shut down after like 10 minutes.

So, I finally start using it everyday again and at some point during the day about 2 weeks ago it looks like the charging port on the backside of the watch face actually melted some of the plastic! I have no clue why I didn't feel it if it was hot enough to melt, but I even had my husband look it over, and he carefully removed the melted plastic because it was covering the center contact to charge, therefor it wouldn't charge.

After carefully removing the melted plastic, all contacts cleaned it still will not charge or recognize its been plugged in at all.

Has anyone else had this issue? What do I do about it? I definitely can not afford to just buy another one but I am so lost without my Ionic, im using an older model that only displays dots, 1 dot is 2000 steps... no text alerts, no clock, timers. Super depressed and unsure what I can do, or if anything can be done to fix it!

Help!

Hi

I just plugged in my ionic in order to calibrate the sensors after an update. When I disconnected it minutes later a piece of plastic was stuck to the charging cable and the charging port on the ionic was ruined (middle contact is completely gone). Strong burned plastic smell. The ionic is still working, but it won't charge anymore. Unless Fitbit has a fix for this, time to find a better brand.

Real shame that Fitbit have taken no interest in what is obviously a design flaw / issue with the battery. Not had any reply from them so as with others I think I may be looking for a different reliable brand for my next watch

Same issues here, plus my case is corroded and pitting. Plating worn off charging points. so none of my four charges will connect anymore.  When I contacted Fitbit, I was told I was just out of warranty, so I was GENEROUSLY offered a 25% discount on a new unit.  Seriously? That's insulting and laughable.  Garmin, here I come.

After almost three years with no issues (purchased Jan 2018), the middle charging contact has recessed into the device, and now my Ionic won't charge. I'm happy I have my old Blaze from before, but I really hope I can figure out a solution for the Ionic 😕

Ricardo- I am having the same issue- the connector on my ionic is melted and won’t accept a charge. I contacted Fitbit support and they have offered 35% discount on replacement as it is out of warranty. I purchased 11/2018 and damage was 11/2020. I am really disappointed as this seems to be a defect and ongoing issue. I truly love my Ionic but am considering finding a new fitness tracking company as Fitbit is not standing behind their product. I am so disappointed as I read on here,  the guidelines seem flexible for replacement. Is there anything you can do to help?

Consider yourself lucky they didn’t even trouble themselves to reply to me so moved on to a company that gives a hoot about it’s customers and product quality

I am very disappointed by the customer service I received. I’m even more disappointed by Fitbit’s inconsistent support based on this thread. Some get a new product, some get a “generous” discount, some don’t even get the courtesy of a response. Poor customer support/service. And for an obvious product defect, not just because we are complaining. I will be finding a new fitness tracking company as well. May I ask what you went with?

Thank you for your input. I agree, customer satisfaction is key to retaining customers. It’s a shame because I loved my ionic. But my Fitbit days are over too.
