@Bill19552455, I am not sure what you mean by "data allowance"?  Your Ionic is counting steps, heart rate, etc., any time you are wearing it, and that data is uploaded to your account when you sync your tracker to the app.

No problem, @Bill19552455!  I am over a decade older than you, but I am a computer systems engineer (retired), so not bothered by tech stuff...   Smiley Happy

No worries, what I meant by data allowance was the amount of data we pay on our phone bill with Telstra . Like if i was using Facebook etc , I get a sms from Telstra that I’m I have so many % to go. By wearing this is it downloading all the time , I will try read every bit of info that comes with it and educate myself. Cheers Bill merry Xmas

@Bill19552455, the Ionic will not use your data at all, but the app will.  Any time you sync your tracker, the app connects to the Fitbit servers and uploads the data from the tracker to the server.  In the app, turn off both All-Day Sync, and Always Connected. Then, the app will connect to the Fitbit servers only when you open the app and manually sync the tracker - that allows you to control the number of times a day it is synced.

@USAF-Larry Same here and maybe slightly older at 78. Toolmaker, Production Engineer Manager, and in my first job our problems were in production control and inventory so I went off to night school in 1968 toearn about these things called computers.. Paper tape was my first program. I retired at 70 and my last few years were implementing PC networked systems all over Australia for one of Australia's largest  Civil Engineers.

In those early years it would have been wonderful to have what we have now. It's a very stimulating life we have now and I'm relishing every breathing minute of it.

Always great reading your posts, have a great Christmas and New Year.

@Bill19552455 Nice having you post again. I had my left hip replaced a couple of years ago and now gradually getting back to it. Fortunately I have no other issues.  Doctor told me last week to go out and enjoy yourself and be your age... No ladders of course.

I was allowed to work until I decided to retire, and then there was some surprise because from others, I was really a person in their late 50's. My mothers genes..... But great that we have the Fitbit Community and communicate with the likes of @USAF-Larry

I had a chat to the local emergency department and they tell me that they get three older people every week , not from falling from ladders but slipping one foot off the higher step through ladder and then #@%!!😥 falling a different way.

Older people tend to fall off ladders because it’s a family heirloom ladder( wooden with rope) or they reach out to far when up a few rungs and over balance. I tend to be very careful because of 2 lots of broken rib episodes( worst pain imaginable). Now days like I said I have an easy job , house paid for and kids gone. Just wife and I and Labrador so rather pay someone to do risky stuff. Getting older is hard enough without extra injuries

@Bill19552455 We are doing the same. Just had a couple of tradies through our 50 year old house, fixing, patching and painting. They would only do the job if the used enamel on the woodwork.  Led lights through out and it became like McDonald's... "fries with that", became new door hardware throughout.

I have been buying Ryobi 18v gear to do all of the ground level work including the battery mower. Makes gardening easier now, virtually noiseless and no fumes. Great selection and cheaper than tradesmen for those tasks.
