Dead Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Ionic has completely died this morning, it was working fine yesterday, it has tracked my sleep over night, the AP says that it was synced 2 hours ago with medium battery but now it's DEAD, wont turn on, reset or charge..... Reading on the forum it seems to be a common fault, I've tried all the different holding of buttons and so on with no luck.

Has anybody else found a different kind of solution to try?????

Mine died a few days ago.  This is the second one I have had since the end of February.  The 1st one only lasted 18 hours before I had to return it to Argos and got a new one.  I have now had this one less than 3 months.  Mine too was fine in the morning, and as I work offshore, we are not allowed to take these devices out of the living accommodation, so I took it off and placed it in my drawer and in the evening I went to put it on and it was dead.  Won't charge or anything.  I gave up a perfectly good Samsung gears S3 frontier watch for this rubbish.  I am home on Wednesday so hopefully Argos will allow me to give this back and I will be getting the new Samsung gear watch.

I had a fitbit charge for years without any issues, but these are cheap and nasty and not reliable.  Goodbye fitbit.  2x £250 watches in less than 3 months.  No thanks.

That's pretty unlucky, I've had a Fitbit since the Blaze. I had a nightmare with my Blaze think I had 3 before going to the Ionic but this is the first time its given up on me, I've had it for 13 months now so I'm hoping they can still do something for me, fingers crossed.

Just reading the other posts, 13 months seems to be the norm for them breaking.  I'm not risking having mine when it's out of warranty. I'll be getting the Samsung watch again.

There is obviously a fault with these devices.

Well after a bit of research, it looks like Argos will be legally bound to provide me with a refund as I am within 6 months of purchase and this is a replacement for a previously failed device.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015

The first six months

If you discover the fault within the first six months of having the product, it is presumed to have been there since the time you took ownership of it - unless the retailer can prove otherwise.

During this time, it's up to the retailer to prove that the fault wasn't there when you bought it - it's not up to you to prove that it was.

If an attempt at repair or replacement has failed, you have the right to reject the goods for a full refund, or price reduction if you wish to keep the product.

The retailer can't make any deductions from your refund in the first six months following an unsuccessful attempt at repair or replacement.

That's good news then, I've also done a bit of digging and found that if the device was purchased in Europe it comes with a 2 year warranty unlike the U.S where you only get 1 year.

Just waiting to hear back from Customer support.

Check your charging contacts on the Ionic  if it has little pinholes in the middle of the contact.  It may not charge anymore.  I bought a soldering kit for $15 and put a tiny bit of solder onto each contact.  My Ionic has come back to life!

Errrm???   No.  I have tried cleaning the contacts.  This is less than 3 months old and are cheaply produced garbage.  It's going back for a refund, and I will be getting a Samsung watch again that doesn't look like a cheapo piece of plastic.  Also once you start fiddling about with the device like you have, you the invalidate any warranty.

My battery lasted less than 48 hours since my last full charge. When I last saw the time the battery was around 26% and within an hour the watch was dead.

Today again the battery has drained to 52% within 15 hours of a full charge.

Hope to get the issue resolved..............
