Dead Ionic

Last night charged my Ionic to 99%. Went to sleep wearing it as usual. Woke up at 4.45 to a completely dead Fitbit. Nothing on the screen. Nothing when I press buttons. App says it can't be found. Plugged it into charger, just in case it had suddenly list charge but it's having zero effecr.

It has been working perfectly well. Only slight problem previously had been the update. Every time I go into the app it tells me that I have an update available. I have tried to do this several times but each time it fails.

Not sure what to do.

I had the same problem too. I was enjoying the fitbit ionic since 2018 March until recently when the watch prompted me to update software. After updating I realised the battery drained very quickly. Usually the battery would last about 4 days but after the update it last only a few hours. I did a last charge on 29 Oct 2019 and found that the ionic could no longer hold charge. It went blank and completely dead.

I wrote to fitbit and they replied that my ionic does not meet their replacement criteria. I tried to argue that it happened after firmware update. Fitbit refused to honour. For me, this is the last fitbit I am wearing after having owned the surge and ionic. These watches are not cheap and cost several hundred dollars and yet the performance and support is sub par. I am going for other makes from now onwards.

I have been using my Fitbit Ionic since December 2018 without any problem.

I have the same problem since Friday, 1 November.

My Ionic is charged, but is switching off and it is difficult to turn it on. I did also the factory reset and it didn't resolve the problem.

Mine isn't difficult to turn on. It WON'T turn on. Dead. Nothing!!!

Can't remember how to do a factory reset but doubt that will work as nothing is happening whatever buttons I press.

Tried pressing buttons as instructed.

Just contacted fitbit support in the UK

Having a new ionic tracker sent to me as a replacement free of charge. No problem.

Very helpful lady

Can't fault the customer service

I just stopped by in the shop where I bought my Ionic (here in Finland) and I got a replacement (free of charge). Now I'm setting up the new device, I hope that everything is going fine and the issue will not repeat.

All sorted.

I'm very impressed with Fitbit customer service. Free replacement ordered and on its way.

Not so impressed with the life of fitbit products.

Originally had a Blaze that lasted just over 2 years. Stopped charging properly so contacted Fitbit.. Because it was out of warranty they offered me a replacement at a reduced price. I bought the Ionic direct from Fitbit. I bought that in June 2018 so that has lasted 16 months.

Their replacement and warranty policy is excellent but not impressed that for the money these cost they go wrong so quickly

I'm a 66 year old retiree so I don't abuse the things I own.
