My Ionic screen remains blank even though it is synced, operating and charged according to my phone app. I’ve tried the restart repeatedly and the only thing that happens is the screen gets a very feint glow to it. I also tried changing the time screen.
any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for troubleshooting your Ionic prior to posting too. To better assist you with this, can you please clarify if by changing the time screen you meant that the clock face of your Ionic was changed to no avail? If not, please check the steps that are specified on: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.
