Display not working

I’ve had my ionic for about 16 months now and the last week it was doing weird things (restarting randomly, vibrating but not showing anything on the display, weird glitching screens with lines on the clock face, and then the last few days the time started being wrong by just a few minutes- I restarted it and it fixed it but then it did it again and restarting it did nothing.) now it won’t show anything at all on the display screen! It lights up like it should be showing something and when I try to restart it it will flash like it’s going to but there’s no Fitbit symbol and nothing is displaying at all. Very frustrating to pay that much for a watch that won’t even last over a year and a half 😭😭 I love my ionic! Please fix it.

My Ionic just quit at 18 months. Clearly there was an issue with these.

Hello guys! I'm here to provide assistance with the difficulties with your Ionic devices. Welcome to our Community Forums @SunsetRunner and @AAVLarson. Your willingness to help is appreciated @WendyB, it's nice to see you around helping Ionic users.

@SunsetRunner Seems odd that your device is behaving in such way, this is certainly not a common situation. First, I'd like to appreciate your patience and effort troubleshooting this prior posting, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. I want to suggest you our factory reset procedure, which is completely different than the restart process that you already tried. To do so, please try the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.
  6. Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

@AAVLarson Can you please give me more information and details about the situation you're currently experiencing with your device so I can better assist you? I'll be looking to your reply.

I'll be around.

I already went through all the trouble shooting with customer service. 18 months is not nearly a long enough life fo a $200+ watch. Sorry still upset right now.

$200... I wish 😞 I paid over $500 when it first came out. Thinking of switching brands entirely if this doesn’t get fixed.

The Fitbit logo no longer appears at all. My ionic randomly displayed its screen again yesterday and I had hope it would work. Now it is just a dark blue screen. Regardless of how many times I restart it or hold down the buttons. It will vibrate every now and then too. I can’t believe I wasted so much money on this thing.

You may still have hope, give the troubleshooting from them a shot. Mine went totally haywire. Marathon level miles on a work day, battery drained in a day, then woke up Monday and the screen had little jumbled lines, died again and no matter what went come back on. Kept restarting over and over throughout the last week, syncing to my phone hoping it would improve but no luck.

I did the hard reboot thing earlier today and that screen with the Fitbit logo and website popped up. Then when I went to update my Fitbit it went back to the bluish purple screen and wouldn’t show the 4 digit code I needed to update it. So I did the reboot again and it showed the number but froze during updating and then went back to the bluish purple screen. Now I can’t even get the Fitbit logo to pop up regardless of how long I hold any buttons down for. 😭
