Do I persevere

This is a call to understand if anyone has an Ionic that works as it should. I'm fast becoming frustrated and disillusioned.

I have had a Fitbit in one guise for many years now.  I started having problems when I upgraded to the original Charge.  This product had issues around how the strap was glued to the device and became separated.  I had 3 of these that all had the same problem before I took the option to upgrade to a Charge 2 for 50% off.

My Charge 2 lasted a little over 6 months in which time I have had to replace the strap (not much of a problem here) but then the screen cracked in 2 places.  Another manufacturing defect (case number 26127834).  Rather than replace this I thought I’d go top end as being the flagship product (with price to match) must have better quality.  On the first day of setting this device up the screen went blank, thought it was me to start with but subsequently after a few exchanges with support (case number 26338323) the IONIC was offered to be replaced or 50% off another product (what other product can you offer me!), I took the replacement but I find on the first day of setting it up that this too is faulty albeit in a different way where this one wont stay connected to the Fitbit app for more than a second before it drops the connection and then reconnects then drops...etc.  I have just started a dialogue with support having done all the things I'll be asked to do - Factory reset etc etc.

There really seems nowhere to go if the Ionic just doesn't work hence me asking if anyone has one that just works!

.y ionic works as it is supposed to, and seems to be reliable. The Charge 2, received 3 weeks before they where shipping, is also going strong, my aunt's 2 year old Charge 2 is also good. My neices 4 year old Charge HR just lost a button. In fact their are close to 15 fitbits in the family and I am only aware of one problem, and a quick search of these forums  found the fix.

You might not want to trust my opinion, since in 5+ years. And speaking with many many users I think I might have found 3 dissatisfied users, I know I have met two

I have had the same issues - 3 charges, on a charge 2 which has had a new strap and is now cracked! 4 fitbits in 3 years 😬 I am trying to decide whether to go with an ionic (wantedbtye swimming and GPS) or just go with the free replacement. Interested to see any other comments

Well when it works it's pretty cool.

I'm back with my original Ionic as at least that one will stay connected, just shuts itself down sporadically!

Still waiting for my next reply from support - we are at the "have you tried......" stage.

So on my third Ionic, 2 days in - so far so good.

I note this time I didn't get a complete boxed replacement just the ionic case in a jiffy bag.  No problem with this as perhaps this has come from a different location where they have resolved some technical issues..? Perhaps I am happy to believe that...  🙂

I got my replacement in the same plastic padded pack envelope. it's been working much better than the original and the Addidas software is on this one. A win win so far, only thing i have noticed are that the notifications drop off every now and then not sure if this is because of IOS upgrades. The corrosion issue still exists but a jewelry cloth has been helping restore the finish. I am in about 4 weeks now with the replacement.
