@Pompey4ever Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for your interest in transferring music to Ionic using a Windows 8.1 computer.

In order to download playlists to your watch, you need a computer with a Wi-Fi connection and the free Fitbit desktop app. In this case, you need to download the following one:

Once you have this installed, follow the steps here. Ionic should be compatible with Fitbit Connect. Please download it from the link provided on this post.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

HI,

I've windows 8.1 so I can only download fitbit connect, but fit bit connect doesn't support the ionic watch, it tells you to use mobile app, but the mobile app doesn't support music downloads

Wow!  I purchased the Ionic because of its functionality, and now I must own a Windows 10 computer in order to transfer music or podcasts to listen to while I work out?  How do I return this thing?

@RJB2056 you need to return it to the store where you bought it. If you bought it direct from fitbit.com then you have 45 days to return it via contact.fitbit.com

I have windows 8.1 and i use the fitbit connect app no problem with my ionic for adding music

I create a playlist in itunes (actually i have several playlists),  open the app, wait for it to find my ionic after selecting transfer music on the watch then it updates the music on the watch

Ive never seen any where on the connect app that it says it doesnt support the ionic.

First load may take a while if your uploading a lot of tunes ( around 180 tracks took about 40mins), but when you add a few to an existing playlist its quicker.

It does work well once youve learned how to do it.

just had a look at the link SantiFitbit supplied, that covers everything you need to know how to load music on 8.    heres a screen grab of my ionic on the connect appIMG_1799.jpg

How do you download music to the ionic if you don't have a downloaded playlist.  I have spodify and that won't allow you to do that..  I want to be able to listen to music without my phone.

Hi @Standman0405 you can't download Spotify playlists to the Ionic as Spotify have only received a remote control app for Fitbit not an app capable of playing music directly (blame Spotify for this and not Fitbit).

Also update to Windows 10 and get off Windows 8.1!! if you use the media creation tool direct from Microsoft it will update you completely free of charge and convert your 8.1 license to a 10 one!

Oddly enough, I had a garmin watch previously. I was able to download the music directly from solidify premium to my watch through wifi. I was able to use my watch phone free. I do blame fitbit and their abilities. It can be done. They are just lacking the technology to do so. I find that i-tunes is an outdated system that people no longer have.
