Exercise App on the Ionic Fitbit not opening up

When I touched the exercise icon today on my Fitbit Ionic, the screen automatically flashed and went right back to the original screen.  I can't get to my exercises to start tracking.  I've already shut it down and the problem still continues.  Please help.  The Fitbit was a Xmas gift so it's not even 6 months old and I just updated to the latest OS last week.
