Fitbit App crashes when adding first card to wallet

On my Samsung S7 Edge, I am trying to add my AmEx card (first/only card I have to setup) to the Fitbit Wallet via the Fitbit app.

When I hit accept on the AmEx terms of service screen, the fitbit app crashes.

I have:

Uninstalled/reinstalled the Fitbit App.

Unpaired/Repaired the Ionic to the Fitbit App.

Restarted my phone.

Used Wifi and used Cellular

Tired every iteration I could think of to solve this issue.

It is always the same, I accept the terms of service and the Fitbit App crashes. One of the main reasons I bought the Ionic was to use the payment feature. This is very disappointing. I'm hoping someone has a solution.

Use online dashboard to "Deactivate Wallet"

Force stop Fitbit app.

Restart app and go to wallet.

Retry adding card.

This worked to get me past the adding the card and the verification text.

Now I'm getting "Error conecting to Ionic. Make sure it is close by and turned on" or "Cannot connect to Ionic." Restarted Ionic and app again. Still the same thing.
