Fitbit Connect App will not open on Mac

I am trying to transfer music from my computer to my Ionic. My ionic has established a connection and is ready to transfer. However, every time I open the app on my Mac the app crashes immediately. I have restarted it and checked updates and it still won't stay open. HELP!

@bloomie1219 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I'm glad to hear that Ionic is ready to receive music from your computer.

It is strange that Fitbit Connect software is crashing every time you open it. Are you getting any error messages?

Try uninstalling the app and then downloading it back again. This could help you out with this.

There are also other ways to load music into Ionic:

You can also try those options as alternatives.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Your response is non helpful.  I have the exact same problem, connect immediately crashes or won't open, and so can't load music.  Suggesting we bypass the main selling feature of using my music for Pandora, is non helpful.  Does fitbit have a solution?

I have the exact same issue and have for some time.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall NUMEROUS times months ago and one of them eventually worked.  Once.  Now it's crashing every time I try to open it again.  Has a solve for this been found?  It's a major feature and issue.  I have the music I want to listen to and don't want to pay for a third-party app integration when I shouldn't even need it.

Welcome to the Community @AThomBomb! I appreciate the troubleshoot that you've followed. I would like you to confirm you comply with the requirements that you need to proper transfer music:

  • Windows 10 (PC) or Mac computer
  • Wi-Fi capable computer: Must be able to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi (direct ethernet connections will not work)
  • Must connect to a 2.4GHz frequency network (5 GHz frequency is not supported)
  • Fitbit Connect Software (Win10/Mac) must be installed
  • Ionic battery life must be above 40% to transfer music (Keeping Ionic charging during this process is recommended)
  • Create at least 1 playlist of songs or podcasts in iTunes or Windows Media Player to download to your watch. You can also create playlists in the Fitbit Music app using the drag-and-drop feature to add individual tracks.
  • To download music files, they must fall under one of the following audio file types:
    • Windows 10
      • MP3 files
      • MP4 files with AAC audio
      • WMA files
    • Mac
      • MP3 files
      • AIFF
      • MP4 files with AAC audio
  • If you use iTunes, make sure you approve the app to share playlists with your watch: Open iTunes on your computer > Edit > Preferences > Advanced Share iTunes Library XML with other applications > OK.

If you have them, please follow this procedure to transfer your music

Hope this helps!
