I’ve been on with an “Ionic specialist” for almost a half an hour trying to find out the band size (24mm, 20mm, etc) so I could search for a third party band in an extended length or a band extender. “Lady”, the ionic specialist, has no idea. 🤦🏻:female_sign: I’m currently listening to horrible hold music while waiting for a supervisor. Locking a section of the population out of buying their product is really fiscally irresponsible. I have a medium wrist and use half of a small band and half of a large. There is no such work around for my husband who has an extra large wrist. We love FitBit products but they are testing my patience with this “no plans to make XL bands”.

I just spent an hour on the phone with FitBit trying to get the band measurement in order to buy an extender so that my husband could actually wear an Ionic. You’ll need a 24mm extender per customer service. I found them on that third party seller that starts with E T. They say they are for Garmin but as long as the size is 24mm is should work.
Per the supervisor in the Ionic department, the measurements are:
Top (part that locks in to the Ionic itself) 29.2mm
Bottom (where you would attach an extender) 24mm
Metal buckle 31mm

There are some metal bands out there that have a folding clasp connector to close them that have removable links to change the band size. The other nice thing about them is just below where they connect into the Ionic you can also disconnect the main part of the band just like a normal watchband. That opens it up to using just about any I would guess 22 millimeter wide band you want.

A metal band is impractical as a fitness band, in my opinion. My quest was more to find the band size since FitBit doesn’t list it in the description like most other wearable fitness brands do. I spoke to three people and all three had no idea what the answer was. The final employee that I spoke with, a supervisor, had to get an Ionic and measure it. This was in the “Ionic Specialty” department. It’s poor marketing and poor customer service. That’s not even getting in to the fact that it excludes an entire subsection of their customers and potential customers from being able to wear an Ionic. My husband has a 9.5” wrist - at the very least I need to know the band size to purchase a band extender. A smart company would listen to the hundreds of people begging for XL bands. #LostBusiness #LostRevenue

What I was trying to say is you can disconnect the main part of the watch band from the little pieces that connect to the Ionic and than connect any kind of normal band you would like. It could be leather, silicon whatever material you chose. The main band connects to the small pieces that insert into the Ionic with pins that connect just like a regular watch band.

I understood what you were saying. I do not own the Ionic - I was going to purchase it for my husband. (I have the Blaze so I fully understand the bands. I need a medium so I use one part small band and one part large band. I know how to find solutions.) There are zero third party sellers that make an Ionic specific band. So, I was trying to find out the band dimensions in order to find a comparable, XL, third party band or extender. Just switching out one L band for another L band doesn’t solve the issue of the lack of XL bands. After wasting entirely too much time just trying to get three measurements, I decided against the Ionic for my husband. It’s a shame - as a catastrophically wounded combat veteran, we were very interested in the heart rate and sleep functions for him. His HR broke about a year ago. We then went with a Garmin but it didn’t sync 75% of the time. We really like FitBit but are extremely disappointed that they don’t care that the people want XL sizing. So, again, he needs an XL band and they just don’t exist for Ionic - hence my desire to get measurements so that I could find an appropriately sized extender.

What is the link to the 3rd party extension?
Also, are there any plans for an XL band for either the Ionic or Versa. My wrist is 9" & it is because of where my bones are. I could lose 100+ lbs & the bones in my wrist are not going to move

I bought my husband an extender for his blaze on eBay. This is the blaze extender - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173184944778
This is an Ionic extender - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173200037061
Hopefully, Fitbit gets the message soon that they are losing money by *not* offering extended sizing.

Like so many others here after purchasing the Fitbit Ionic I found that the band just barely fits. I happen to see the post here that if one would contact Fitbit that they will send you an XL band for free. Great I thought to myself. So I called Fitbit and after talking to the representative and her supervisor whom I might add they both could not speak very good English. Guess now these days you have to get use to it. From that conversation both individuals said that Fitbit does not nor will they offer an XL band for the Fitbit Ionic watch.
I also sent an email to which Fitbit opened a case to my inquiry to amXL band for the Ionic watch. Just received a email from Marcela S and Fitbit Team saying that they do not offer any other band that what comes with the watch.
My thoughts is if you DO NOT BY A FITBIT product if you need sometime that is larger than 7 1/2” to go on your wrists to wear a watch.
