When in the "music controls" screen on my Ionic the screen continuously says "start playing music from a music app" even when music is playing from Spotify, Apple music ect. Connectivity problems with the Ionic, such as the need to toggle Bluetooth (on/off) on my phone every time I take my watch off in order to receive notifications, are an ongoing problem which I didn't have with my Blaze.
Are there known connectivity issues with the Ionic, if so is there an ETA on a fix?

I checked the list of known issues and don't see any for this listed .but thrntagain I don't see any mention of what phone that your having problems with. So not sure how to help.
Have you checked to see what fitbit says about your phone?
Have you restarted the phone?
Is music playing on the phone?
Which music app are you using, some apps dont work with external music control

Not encountering issues, when using the left button to access music controls.
Hold your left button till it displays. There are actually two displays on the watch when you do this, one is the screen wake and notifications and the other is music. If you slide the light blue bar on top across you will be accessing the music controls. Haven't had connectivity problems when accessing in this manner, but it too me forever to realize there were 2 screens with the left button hold. 🙂

Is your Ionic connected to your phone via the regular bluetooth, classic bluetooth, or both? Thanks

Hello @Hengstone for Android and Window phone, music control goes through BT Classic. Ionic Classic needs to be paired to the phone .
On iOS devices music control uses BT Low Energy. On the Blaze, the classic would be disabled.
I find notifications in the app must be enabled and the keep alive widget helpful.
