Hi,
I got myself a Fitbit Ionic from US but have not been able to set it up. It was earlier showing syncing error however that is now resolved. However, it shows clock error on the watch face.
Also, on the app if I try to install something it shows installation in progress but nothing happens. Thoroughly frustrated over the last 5 days and the excitement of a new product is turning into disappointment.

Have you tried restarting the watch after you charge it? I don't know if it will work, as I have never faced your issue before, but it may be worth a shot. Hold down the left and bottom right buttons on the watch for 10 seconds until you see the Fitbit logo appear. Once you do, the restart was successful.
If that fails, you really should contact Support, as your device should not be acting like that.
