Hello, My fitbit Ionic worked great for the first 8 months now sometimes it continuously counts steps. Also the battery drains with in 3 to 4 hours. Is this issue common or could it just be a faulty Ionic?

It's nice to see you here @joew2444. I'll be glad to assist you with your Ionic's battery drain issue.
I recommend to change your charging power source and to follow the steps from help article Can I improve my Fitbit device's battery life?
When does your device continuously count steps? Is that a recurrent issue, does it happen at some time of the day or sporadically? Are you doing some activity when this happens?
Thank you for your help @WendyB!
I'll be waiting for your response.

It counts steps always and continuously. Until the battery drains. Even while charging
