I currently have the Surge but looking to upgrade to the Ionic. I'm torn between the Huawei Watch 2 and the Fitbit Ionic. Whereas I understand and get on with Fitbit very well I'm intrigued by the navigation on the Watch 2.
Will Fitbit be looking to improve its Ionic to match or better other fitness smartwatches in the near future?

How does it compare to the Huawei Watch 2 anyone?
No one will be likely take the task to answer your question because you haven't gave us much to go on in the first place. What are your expectations? What are the top 5 things that matter to you the most in a sportwatch... for instance : optical HR precision, battery life, interface, screen, design, being able to swim with it, the ecosystem, GPS performance... and so on.
You have to understand that the more info we have about you and about what you want the better and helpful answer we can give you in return.
If you are ONLY intrigued about the navigation on Watch 2 then I guess you can buy the Watch 2 and enjoy that feature now because NO one has any clue if Ionic will have something similar implemented in the next 6 to 12 months given the fact that there is no software/features/firmware road map (I haven't seen one and I Googled quite a bit)
Every watch that was launched by a big brand in the last 5 years got better with each firmware update... the Ionic will get even better because different developers will be able to make software (apps) for it, so on top of the watch software (firmware) getting better (bug free and with additional features) you will have additional apps that you can install. Some apps could be quite brilliant but that's up to the developers and for the moment we don't know for sure what the future will bring.

I'd read through these discussion boards very carefully before buying an Ionic. I'm an ex-Surge user, and picked an Ionic up on the first day it was available in Germany. So far, it has been a huge disappointment. Buggy, limited and inaccurate run tracking / data. I'm sticking with Fitbit for the moment, in the hope that they remedy these problems with updates and 3rd party developers, but will switch to Garmin if they don't.

My advice to you :
- Buy it from a store with good return policy
- Use it, judge it by your own set of rules, test it based on your own usage patterns
- Let the decision be about the watch test results, your needs and expectations
- Your personal evaluation is more important than reading a 100 threads or reviews about it
Ionic is a new device and it's under construction so to speak. Don't expect perfection, expect some bugs and missing features... if you like the product and you are invested in their ecosystem (you like the apps, have lots of friends) then you need to have patience till it gets better.
