Experienced technical problem after 18 months. Unable to do a factory reset. I honestly believe Fitbit messed up the firmware on my watch (Update June 2019) Watch went dark with 92% charge. I would never buy or recommend a Fitbit product.

This is a known behavior that many Ionics are going to exhibit. In short, there is no solution and fitbit will not acknowledge the problem. Basically, in the next few days/weeks it will stop working and there is nothing that we can do to solve. Mine exhibited the exact same behavior as you described. Also, unfortunately, this post will be removed because fitbit is trying to "hide" all related problems.

I have also posted several reviews on other platforms (Amazon, Bestbuy) to ware customers to not purchase the Ionic watch. Fitbit refuses to acknowlegde the problem, they will lose customers. The word is getting out, CBC news published a story last week regarding the Charge 2 watch - issue with firmware update rendered many watches useless.
