Fitbit Ionic won't sync, tracker not found, freezing, time wrong on Galaxy S7 etc.

My Ionic has been working fine, then all of a sudden it started acting up yesterday.  I went to go for an run and it froze up and I had to restart it 3 times while trying to use the Run activity with the GPS.  I finally gave up and used MMR on my phone.  About 2 miles in, I realized my Fitbit wasn't responding when I turned my wrist nor was it counting steps.  I stopped mid- run and rebooted it AGAIN.  It started tracking steps and about .4 miles after that it recognized the run and GPS went on.  But I lost 2 miles of steps (and am in a step contest at work so 2 miles is a huge deal).

It seemed to work fine the rest of the day.

This morning I woke up and went to check my sleep stats and it froze again.  It wouldn't sync, then said there were Bluetooth issues, then tracker not found.  Now the time is off by 24 minutes.  I've updated the app, signed in and out of the app, rebooted my phone, rebooted the watch at least 4 times.  It synced once, but now it can't find the tracker again, time is still wrong.

What is going on?  I see several other posts about this.  I don't have time to mess around with this with a contest going on.

This is my 5th fitbit and I've only had this one since 2/17 after my 2nd surge broke in 6 months.

I just wanted to say I am having the same issue. I have an LG G6. Last time it synced was on Saturday evening. I have only had the Ionic for 2 weeks (upgraded from the blaze).

So this morning I went for a bike ride and everything seemed to be fine but when I finished I wanted to see the stats on my phone and noticed it had not synced yet. When I went to force a sync I noticed that it had not synced since Saturday. Now I have spent the better part of 2 hours this morning trying to get it to sync. I have reset the Ionic, reset the phone, turn Bluetooth on and off, all multiple times. My clock is out of sync by about 2 minutes now.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and have similar sync issues with Ionic. The watch itself seems to be fine in terms of counting steps or gps tracking. But I am not able to sync up the stats with the phone app. I have tried rebooting Ionic, remove and add tracker on the phone app, restarting bluetooth on the phone etc and nothing seems to help.

I'm having the same issue with my Samsung S8.  Did you fix it?

Unfortunately no fix so far. I did contact fitbit support and after restarting bluetooth on the phone and Ionic, it synced and stayed that way for a couple of days only to go out of sync on the third day. I am unable to get it to sync again following the same steps as earlier. I noticed that it goes out of sync when I go out for a run using GPS mode activity "Run" on Ionic and don't carry the phone with me.

I have the new Galaxy J3, and it is having the same issues!   Fortunately, the  phone does seem to sync after an exercise routine.  However, the watch will slowly go out of sync and will be anywhere between 45 minutes to 3 hours short of real time within 24 hours of the Ionic syncing.  Has anyone heard from Fitbit regarding a fix?

Hey there @Blossom7! I appreciate the troubleshoot that you performed in order to fix the inconveniences you were experiencing. Thanks as well for the time that you took to share your experience.

I apologize for the delay in my response. I've checked with Customer Service and they've mentioned that they resolved your case back in August. If you have any questions about your Ionic, I'll be around.

Hey there @BenHovinga@Silva66 and @CCPD342.. I appreciate the troubleshooting that you've performed as well for the details that you've shared. There might be some syncing issues with your Ionic and your phone, because the phone that you mentioned isn't listed as a compatible device. There are some people that occasionally sync with these type of devices but they stop syncing at some point because they aren't listed as compatible ones.

I would recommend to follow the steps provided on this article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?. However, I can't confirm that there will be a good synchronization.

Hey there @SaravanaC and @fun4fran12. Thanks for the steps you've followed. If you haven't tried, please confirm you've followed the steps listed here Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hope this helps! I'll be around if you have additional questions!

@SilviaFitbit, thank you for the attempt to help resolve my issue. Unfortunately, the article didn't help in the least bit, and now my IONIC will not sync to the phone or my tablet (Galaxy Tab A).  I spent a lot of money on the IONIC, in fact more than I should have, an now I have a piece of equipment that I can not even use. Since, its been less than a year since buying the tracker, how do I go about getting a hold of customer service in order to return the watch and get a refund?

Have the same issue. Sometimes takes a day or so to sync, after restarting all devices (Pixel 2 XL)

There are clearly issues with the firmware here that need to be addressed, or mine us going back to Amazon with a bad review. A watch isn't meant to be stressful

Thanks for getting back @CCPD342. I appreciate the extra details that you've mentioned. Unfortunately, I can't assure you that your Ionic will sync with the mobile devices you're using, because they aren't listed as compatible. In regards to returning your watch, you may want to check the Fitbit Warranty here

Welcome to the Community @Mikewilli_uk. Thanks for mentioning the phone that you're using. Your phone is on the list of compatible ones. I would like you to confirm that you've done this syncing procedure in order to fix the issue you're experiencing.

Hope this helps!
