Fitbit Ionic won’t unlock

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just started yesterday, Fitbit asks for pin when on the home screen and you try to tap it or go to another screen. Once you put in the pin it just sits there like it is stuck. Tried to change the pin but it says it’s unsuccessful. Have forgotten the device and reconnected it via the bye tooth’s.

@NeenaB Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for trying those steps to sort the situation you are experiencing with Ionic being stuck after typing the PIN.

I'd recommend performing a restart on Ionic if it keeps getting stuck. This should help you out with that.

By any chance the PIN code you are using on your watch is the same you have as you phone's device lock?

Thanks for that. How do I restart my Fitbit? The link doesn’t give instructions. Have tried hooking it up to my laptop but now it says Bluetooth isn’t on.

@NeenaB Thanks for your reply and for providing that information.

Is the Bluetooth on your laptop on? Can you see if Ionic is being found by your laptop?

To restart your Ionic:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your Fitbit Ionic doesn't work normally, use the instructions here to turn your watch off and on again.

Try that out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

This is definitely a bug that started in the most recent version of the OS.  I am experiencing this too.  Restarting the watch fixes it for a while.

Hi Team,

Just to let you all know, this issue just occurred with my Ionic as well (08h32 on Friday, 20th of April, 2018).

Ionic version is 32.4.19 and the Fitbit App version is 2.49 run on iOS 11.3 on a September 2016 iPhone 7 - 128Go.

The Left and Bottom Right button hold reset worked and to answer SantiFitbit's question, yes, my lock code is the same as my phone lock code.

Yes I am having the same problem...very annoying as I use the watch everyday to pay for everything I buy.  Are FB working on an solution or new OS release?

@Randy193 @Josh71 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting this situation too. Thanks for performing the restart steps that help sorting this out.

Fitbit has announced the release of OS 2.1! Please check this post for more details. Once available for you, make sure to download it.

Mine started this morning (11/27/2020)- It treats the PIN as incorrect. Only have access to viewing the face "as-is". I can sync w/ the app on android. I can't change the PIN in the app: get popup window "Error  Error connecting to Ionic   OK".  The only additional item that may be the cause of this is I had fraud on my CreditCard that was the primary card in the Ionic. The CC company shut down the card yesterday and I did receive a notice from Fitbit that the card was deactivated in my account. Can't enter new card until replacement arrives.

I can reset the Ionic. I can change clock faces.

Can't turn off/on since I have no access to the "settings" icon on the device. (Stays locked after reset)
