Fitbit Pay with Ionic Not Required, Still Pops Up

Help!

I do not require pay with iconic on  my watch and did not set it up. Pay with iconic keeps popping up on my watch and buzzing. I disabled the app from my phone thinking that would get rid. The same notification still pops up. No buttons are pressed. How can I stop this please. I've only had the watch 2 weeks and it's driving me insane! Lol

@Laurajo2 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for disabling the app and trying to troubleshoot this.

When Fitbit Pay pops up, does it asks you to enter a PIN code? You can try deactivating the Device Lock under the device lock settings on the Fitbit App.

You can also try deactivating Fitbit Pay (if you already did this, try it again):

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. Tap or click the gear icon in the top right > your device image.
  3. Tap or click "Fitbit Pay".
  4. Tap or click "Deactivate Fitbit Pay".

Remember to sync your Ionic right after making any changes, this is to ensure that changes will be implemented. This should help you out!

Try that out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

I have the same issue reported by Laurajo2.  The "Pay with Ionic" message began popping up constantly, starting about a week ago.  It happens randomly or by button push, sometimes dozens of times a minute.  I haven't yet set up to use the Pay feature, so the deactivation fix does not work.  I get the message "You do not have any cards using Fitbit Pay."

I've also found that the wrist flick feature to bring it to life stopped working after about two weeks.  I've cycled power, and made sure my firmware is current.

Thanks for any help you can offer.  This has made a great watch almost unusable, and my friends make fun of it.  😞

Same issue, started today and has so far happened 20 times the last hour at random intervals.

Tried restarting the iconic, syncing and restarting my phone. But the problem persists.

I have no card set up for the app, as I don't trust it yet (for good reasons it seems) and will try to disable the payment feature now.

This happened after a few days of a lot of swimming/running, but while sitting reading a kindle. Just to get all the information in there.

"Edit" Since fitbit deleted my other posts because they were step by step replies as i went along, I added them all below so no one else have to go through all the steps again.

Ended deleting the pay with fitbit app. Didn't work but made it worse..."

"Hmm there is now no wallet app on the iconic. But the problem persists. It fires both when I wear it and when it's just lying on a table. It looks just like when its getting a 2 sec input on the left button, but I'm sitting 3 feet away doing nothing. Just to clarify. The fitbit did not go near water today, it worked fine all morning, and one hour ago while I was relaxing it went bananas."

"Did a full factory reset and update. Didn't help. Any ideas anyone? Or do I just ask for a replacement/refund?"

"Spend an hour with fitbit costumer service. Polite but completely useless. The only thing they can do is replace it (but won't because it has 3 superficial scratches on it), or give me 20% of buying a new one. For a smatwacth that not even 2 months old, I'm disappointed beyond belief.

As fitbit offers no repairs of Any kind I guess this is the end of it. My advise from here would be to never touch another of their products."

That is extremely disappointing news.  Mine is a month old, and I've exhausted all manner of self-help for this issue.  I'm planning on trying customer service, and will report back.  But, based on your experience I'm not optimistic.  I have a scratch or two also and why would I want to buy something else based on this significant defect?

It's a shame, the product has so much potential but we shouldn't have to live with buzzing every 10 seconds with "Pay with Ionic."

Sorry to hear you are stuck with the same issue, but happy to hear you are willing to try costumer service as well. Its clearly a softwear issue, and the more of is who reports this to them the better.

Let me know how it goes.

Ps I got a screenshot of my entire conversation with them. If you need it. I was gonna post it along with some fairly negative reviews.

@sofanisse @CrashFu Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting this situation on this thread. Thanks for trying all the steps to sort this out.

The new Fitbit Ionic firmware version begun to roll out yesterday. It should be available to all Ionic users within a few weeks as this is a progressive roll out. Please make sure to update your Ionic once you receive the new update! This should help you out for sure. Check this post for more details about this firmware update.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Thank you for replying.

I did read about the new firmware rollout, but didn't see the issue mentioned anywhere. I will wait until it gets to me and let you know.

@SantiR

Iconic updated to version 27.31.1.29

Issue persists.

What is the community/tech next step towards fixing this.

So here's my latest update.

I have a new hiccup in that the Pay with Ionic started buzzing when I connect the charger.  That hadn't happened before.

I tried the compressed air/left button fix that user @VertigoU2 mentioned in a similar post.

I then updated the firmware last night.  So far, it's roughly the same.  It has flashed randomly several times today when I was motionless at my desk.

If I avoid pushing buttons, it mostly stays away. My issue of the wrist activation not working is still present.

I will continue to monitor this, and see if I can find some common thread.  I have had it one month now, with no time in the water, and no blows or physical trauma.  😞

Hey man. Sorry to hear yours is a dead end as well.

I ordered a can of air just in case and will try it out. But I don't have much faith in it.

Mine is now doing the fitbit pay thing, random restarting (both related to the left button) but it also have the green LED under it firing constantly

Where do we go from here? Ideas?

So here's the latest status.  After cycling the power multiple times after installing the latest firmware update, the problem stopped entirely.

For a glorious three weeks, I could use every button and every feature as intended.

However, this weekend Pay With Ionic came back with a vengeance.  It now will do it twenty to thirty times, with or without any button interaction.  The only variable I can point to was recently updating the Fitbit app.

I've researched Near Field Communication topics, other phenomenon and still have no answers.

This is the most frustrating piece of technology I've owned.

I just hard reset it (by holding all three buttons until it shuts off and the Fitbit logo pops up again), and if that doesn't work, use the right bottom button on the stopwatch app to start and stop it. It'll buy some more time before it starts again.
