Hey everyone
Just wondering if anyone can help me. I've just returned my Garmin Vivosport due to poor inconsistent HR during activities.
Now I've got my eye on the Ionic, ticks most of the boxes for me however there seems to be confusion on the Strava syncing etc. I do a lot of spinning sessions but is it true that these are not synced over to Strava as they contain no GPS data? Surely this can't be correct?
If someone can help me that would be great as I'm missing my fitness tracker and would like to get a new one soon.

Correct @ayeoman06 Fitbit won’t sync spinning activities to Strava, due to there being no gps info.

Ah that's a massive shame. Probably won't get it. Is there any work around at all?

Track your activity with something else 😉

@ayeoman06 when Surge launched in late 2014, they introduced exporting. Unfortunately it was limited to activities tracked with GPS, including those from both wrist tracker and Fitbit mobile app's MobileRun feature. In May 2015 I reported the lack of full export capabilities, along with API documentation errors. Since then Fitbit has not updated export, or fixed the API documentation error.
Our gym has spin bikes with power meters, and they transmit power/cadence/speed using ANT+. My spin sessions are tracked with Garmin Edge 520 bike computer, and Garmin is great about syncing any activity to other fitness platforms like Strava. To get it to Fitbit, Garmin syncs with Endomondo, which pushes spin session into my Fitbit dashboard as a manual activity (start time, duration, calories). If you tried that, I would probably disable Ionic's auto-tracking of spin/biking, to get HR on my dashboard. Then either create a manual activity, or use something like a bike computer to auto sync activity back to Fitbit. Its not ideal, but it would work.
Keep in mind that Fitbit doesn't support cadence, speed, or power sensors. So even if Fitbit did export to Strava, all you would get is a Strava activity with start time, HR, and duration. My spin sessions are focused on both power and cadence work, and I want that data in Strava, so both indoor and outdoor cycling needs to be tracked with a wearable like Garmin that supports power/cadence/GPS, or a bike computer.
Hope that helps.

@SunsetRunner you know me, still hoping for the day when Fitbit finally supports cycling and spinning... Either link up with sensors, or allow importing activities with GPS/HR. And fix the export issue.
