Fitbit no longer syncs to my android / doesn't keep time either

Up until about 2 months ago my fitbit Ionic worked like a dream. Kept time perfectly. Synced whenever I woke her up and tracked my swimming, sleep, everything. Now its behaviour has become haphazard at best. I have

  • uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my Android.
  • I've made sure my android is fully updated.
  • I've tried to unpair and re-pair the bluetooth, multiple times.
  • Rebooted the phone (which does create the sync sometimes.)
  • It does not register a date of last pairing which is a bit weird.
  • Fitty (my fitbit) is fully charged yet nothing seems to help.
  • And the weirdest thing is that it used to work perfectly.

Here are the deets.

Fitbit Ionic Software version - 27.331.30

Set on constant bluetooth connection

Smartphone deets:

HTC U11 plus

Android Version 8.00

Software information

1.24.709.994

Kernal version 4.4.78 perf-g3347e2c

And@AABM#1

SMP-PREEMPT

Baseband verion

8998-002772-1712201227

Build number 1.24.709.994.9.0

Can you help. Because I used to love Fitty and now I eye her suspiciously. Knowing she is not recording my metrics properly.

The device you are trying to sync is not a supported device?

You can find a list of compatible devices here and here.

I suspect an app date may have broke what wasn't supposed to work anyway. Another update could restore function but there is no guarantee.

One thing you can try is to install an older version of the app from when it did work. You can find older versions here, though Fitbit does not recommend it.

The failures took place before the last update. There was NO update on the phone or the fitbit that resulted in the change in device behaviour. And you CANNOT discount that the device worked perfectly for a year.

This answer is not helpful.
