Fitbit steps and heart rate inacurrate

Hi all

I purchased a Fitbit Ionic a couple of days ago. Great looking and comfortable device, but the information it supplies seems inaccurate.

The steps shown is definitely inaccurate. When i wake up in the morning it shows that i have already taken 280 steps.

My resting heart rate also seems to be off at about 20bpm. I used to have a POLAR M400 with chest strap, so i'm pretty sure what my heart should be.

Please advise

Thanks

Ruan

Because your zionic is a wrist worm tracker and it calculates steps by feeling arm movements, it is normal to jave steps overnight. I dont think 280 is an unreasonable number, though I get closer to 100 or so when I wake up. Maybe you move more in your sleep?

As far as the Heart rate goes, a polar chest strap is probably a more accurate device for measuring heart rate, but to be sure, can you manually take your pulse and check how close it is to what tje Ionic says? Also yoj ,ay need to adjust the position and/ or tightness of the band to get the best recording. It would also be worth restarting the watch and see ifbthat improves ots accuracy. Thanks for your reply.

That  does not sound normal though. Every morning i wake up,  it shows that i have already done between 250 and 300 steps.

Is there anything i can do about this, does the device need to be calibrated or something first?
