GPS is Sporadic

So frustrating that about 50% of the time my GPS doesn't work. this week is my one year anniversary of using fitbit  (and approx 9000KMs) I upgraded to the Ionic a few months ago to try and better track my runs with GPS -and train for my distance running -  but half the time it isn't working - for instance on my rin this morning - i did the same 10km run as yesterday - yet it only registered 7 km - because the GPS isn't working. What is the issue - is it being fixed (if yes when) I would prefer not to switch brands - but if this isn't being fixed - i am buying another brand within a week. This is incredibly disappointing - and it seems like the ionic is completely unreliable.
