Hello,
My Fitbit ionic recently carried a software upgrade at the start of this week. Since then I have been for 2 runs on the usual routes and the gps feature has become wildly inaccurate. It was great before the update. How can I fix this?
The GPS basically keeps losing signal throughout the run. Nothing has changed in my route or run, so must be the recent update.

Thanks for your help.

Hi @Mattbarnes1, It's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your post. There are a few reasons why GPS might not connect. Review the information below, then check the requirements and troubleshooting steps:
Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing, prior to the update I installed last week, the GPS was functioning perfectly. Now, after the update, while doing the same trajectories (running and cycling) the signal is lost frequently. The activities are taking place in open fields, so there is not a real reason for weak GPS signal.

Hi RicardoFitbit,
Thanks for your reply and regaridng your points:
1. I run in open fields and have never had a problem with my ionic until the update running the same routes.
2. I always wait until the GPS has been found by the ionic before starting a run.
It's definetly a problem caused by the update as nothing else has changed. I have also tried resetting my fitibit and had no luck.
Please could fitbit rectify this? This update has made things worse.
Thanks,
mattbarnes1

Same problem with mine. After the update in December it loses GPS and shuts down the run or bike time. I’m doing the same routes as before where it worked fine. I’ve done a factory reset and uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least six times. Fitbit tells me they are aware of the situation and are working on it but have no time frame for a fix. Also read a customer comment a couple days ago where they had just purchased an Iconic and the GPS function wouldn’t work right out of the box. So why does Fitbit continue to sell this unit knowing it has an issue?

Same issue here. It's been reported on another thread. Oddly enough on my run last night, I tracked it with both Fitbit and my phone. Fitbit did pretty well for the first 45 minutes or so, then became erratic. You can see the comparison of the maps below. This added about another quarter mile or so to my run, and also changed my average pace. This never happened before the last update, when the Ionic was a very reliable device for tracking my runs and bike rides. tracked with the phone, nice smooth lines toward the end of the run
tracked with fitbit, was fine until the end, then became erratic
