My new Ionic counts all hand movements as steps (dominant or non-dominant). Help call said "... the only way to get accurate step coin is to put it in my pocket.". My other has a Versa HR , that never counts hand movements as step unless she is shaking an item vigorously.
Second option from help call was "... don't wear your Ionic until you are going to take a walk.".
Am I wrong if I understand that the Ioni is inferior to the Versa?

For one thing, you two would have to switch trackers to verify if the difference is the model or the person.

Hello @winken welcome to the Community Forums, it's a pleasure to assist you with your concern. Nice yo see you helping other users @JohnnyRow, thanks for your post.
Let me share with you that Fitbit devices have a finely-tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When performing activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps.
When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement, you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most users, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device count steps?
Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be around.

My New Ionic counts over 1000 step during sleep and another 100 eating a bowl of cereal. My others
Alta HR may count up to 10 steps for same actions. Ionic is defective design or is my broken? Thank you for really.

Welcome back @winken thanks for your reply and update. Sorry for the delay in responding.
Seems odd that your new Ionic is counting so many steps while you're asleep or eating a bowl of cereal, this is certainly not the way the step-count algorithm was designed. That said, I'd like to let you know that I've created a ticket for you to receive further assistance with our Customer Support team. Therefore, I recommend you to keep an eye to your email, they'll be in touch with you soon.
In the meantime they contact you, let me know if you have any additional questions.

wore the Alta HR checked steps and movements. checked hand movements. put my new Ionic on and steps are off by a magnitude of 15 when it is counting my hand movements as steps. I give this product an F-- for quality support and information. Ionic is useless you put it on to walk or run. Otherwise it cannot be worn since it counts hand movements as steps.
