Hi,
Whenever I take off my Ionic at night and put it on my bedside table, I notice that the green heart rate monitor light is constantly "on". However, whenever I take off my Ionic during the day, the green light switches off.
Is there some sort of time zone setting for the heart rate monitor? I have it set to OFF on the device yet the light remains on. I have tried resetting the device, this has not worked.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks.
Pete

@pgilmour Welcome to the Fitbit family! Have you tried using the "Auto" setting for heart rate instead? That option should turn off the sensor once you take it off and should turn it on once you wear it.
Another thing you can try is turning off the Ionic and then turning it back on. That could help out as well.
If you keep experiencing this after all the tips above, try setting it up as a replacement device. This should fresh start your Ionic and the behavior should not persist.
Try that out and let me know how it goes!

I am having the same issue with my Ionic. Where do I find the option to make the Heart Rate Auto? On my device I only have On or Off.
Thanks

@gmarmy171 Welcome to the Fitbit family! In this case you will need to do the change on your online dashboard's device settings. You will find the option to change it to "auto". It looks like this:
Heart Rate Settings
Once you have changed the setting make sure to sync your watch afterwards. That should help you out!
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for getting back to me. For the life of me I cannot find the setting you are referring to. The only place I can find anything remotely like that is within the settings on the actual device and it only gives me the option of on or off. Can you please give me more details on where to find it? Thanks

@gmarmyWhen your setting in the Ionic is On..... and you take your watch off, does the green light stop...
Mine stops, and when I put my finger on it for a few seconds it starts again... when I remove the finger, the light stops in less than 5 seconds.
I'm waiting for @SantiR to get back on my previous post... showing the view from the Online Settings page.

There is a bug in the ionic. Mine will randomly not turn off the heart monitor light no matter what position you put it in. At other times it will go off straight away. No setting makes any difference and it had done this with all versions of the firmware. Hopefully fitbit will fix this one day as it is annoying at night.
Interestingly a reboot does not stop it but if you plug in the charge cable the led turns off. You can then unplug the charge cable & the ionic then turns off correctly.

I'm having the same problem, whether the heart rate is "on" or "off" the green light is ALWAY on until I take my ionic off and set it down face up. The green light is always on as long as the back side is covered or in the dark. My heart rate does only show if I have the heart rate "on" and doesn't show when it is "off" but I feel as though the battery would last much longer if the green light was off when the heart rate is turned "off".

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for taking the time to post on this thread regarding the heart rate sensor on your Ionic.
In this case, you will find two option on your Ionic Settings app for heart rate: on and off. This will indicate if heart rate readings will be tracked or not. However, the green lights will always remain on as long as you are wearing your watch. Once you take your watch off the green lights should turn off. This is because it has a sensor that will activate the green lights whenever you are wearing it.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

Hi
Yesterday switched from Surge to Ionic (adidas ed). There no option (device/heartrate/*) in App. In Surge options thats there!
Whole night my watch was on table, it recorded peak heart rates there ... so, heartrate sensor won't switch off 😞

So you are saying that there is NO way to turn off the green light? I don’t want to track my heart rate and want to turn the light off permanently.

Correct, it is not possible to switch the light off.

Mine turns off now. Occasionally it stays on and I just have to run my finger over it and it turns off.
