When I’m not wearing my Fitbit, I’ve noticed from downloads that, my device is registering a Heart Rate. HR ranges from Fat Burn to Cardio for hours!!! Clearly, this is screwing up my stats, which in my mind renders this device as completely useless. I’ve also noticed that during 2 hours of tennis play, my device registers my HR at resting 20% occasions; trust me..., I’m not resting!!!
Yes!!! I have reset the this device many times but now I’m just fed up. Don’t suggest this again. $300 for stats I can’t rely on. Thank you Fitbit.

It's nice to see new members around, welcome @TechSkeptic and @Anirt! Sometimes Ionic can't detect you have taken it off, and it sees what it thinks is your pulse. This is can be explained in this article. Note that if you remove your tracker but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket or backpack, the tracker may display an erroneous heart rate reading. And there are some factors that can affect the heart rate readings. Movement, temperature, humidity, stress level, physical body position, caffeine intake, and medication are some of the few things that can affect it.
To prevent this by turning off heart rate tracking when the tracker is not in use, log into your dashboard and go to Settings > Devices to turn your Heart Rate Tracking to "Off."
I also recommend performing a restart on your Ionic . Additionally to this, please check this post of mine to get more information about the heart rate accuracy on your Fitbit.
I'll be around, keep me posted!
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

Sometime between last night and this morning.... my Iconic died. It’s completely dead. It will not charge. Perhaps the the weird inconsistent tracking my device was experiencing was an early symptom of its pending doom.
Wow, I just bought this device in February of this year and took very good care of it. Not a scratch on it. Never been thrown nor had an impactful hit.
I’m extremely disappointed.

My Ionic is doing exactly the same thing. I've tried resetting it to no avail and have noticed the sensor lights are not working. Hoping it doesn't turn up toes overnight.
I am so disappointed by this piece of rubbish and a complete waste of $500.

So i was looking at all the forums all the questions and it seemed odd to me that this was going on.... one thing i noticed on mine is that my HR sensor will stay on when useing clocks not made by fitbit. I switched the clock face to a fitbit clock face and resolved HR dosent show if not on skin!!! Pass the word around!! Also dont try useing pay for clocks the 24 house trail will make your sensor go nuts for some reason

My Charge 4 does the same thing. I can't wear my device at work, so it sits in my gym bag in the car during the day. This is what I regularly see. Not much of a response from FitBit, except to reset the device, which does nothing.
