Heart rate and steps not working

Hi everyone. I have a New Ionic which I set up last night. 

despite resetting my watch several times it won’t count my steps and has my heart rate at 65 bpm constantly even after running up a flight of stairs. I have walked to work today and it says I walked 15 steps. 

Have I do e something wrong? I when it asked me to calibrate I plugged the charger in but it didn’t ever say it had finished calibrating so had I not left it long enough? 

Any suggestions gratefully received!

@Mark_81 Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried.
