Hello,

I've got a (now sadly broken) Microsoft Band 2. I've used it a lot for hiking and with it used the "Explore Tile".

There you can see kind of a map where you walked by and can use it to go back where you started from.

It also reminds you of the sunset to make sure you get back when it's still bright enough.

So my question is: Is there some similar option for the Fitbit Ionic? I watched a couple of reviews, but nobody talked about something like that.

Regards,

Hi @SunsetRunner,

Yes, the Ionic has on-board GPS, and it will generate a route map for your walks, hikes and runs. The map is generated once the activity is finished; you can't view a map during the walk. So using it to trace one steps back wouldn't work.

The GPS can be turned on or off as you wish.

Thanks a lot for your response.

That's very disappointed to hear. Is there a function like that planned? I friend of mine got a Garmin watch which has similar functionality.

I don't know, honestly that's the first time I heard of that feature. It sounds very interesting. You can do all that from the watch, without having the phone nearby?

You may want to propose it here so Fitbit is aware of it:

It's a really great feature! No need to stay on trails, you can walk where you want and still find your way back 😄

Yes you can:

The Band doesn't have map support, but it's still sufficient enough to get back where you started from. It's one of my most used features on my Band 2.

I really thought the Ionic has something similar.
