How did clock face change ?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This morning the clock face background changed without any interaction on my part.

All of a sudden I have a photo of a kitten with its head up.

I called “Support” - waste of time. She told me the only way it can be changed,

is with the app. I told her repeatedly that I did NOT change it -

could someone have hacked into my Ionic ?

She put me on hold, and I had to listen to horrible loud piano music for about 4-5 minutes while she said she checked with “Security”.

She said they confirmed the only way to do this is via the app, and that I should

change my password - so I asked again, was I hacked - she said no.

I asked, why do you want me to change my password if I was not hacked.

Horrible support...

Does anybody have any idea how this could have occurred ?

What clock face are you using? It does not sound like the default.

Perhaps the clock face you're using has a setting to automatically change the background image?

I was using one of the default clock faces - don’t remember if it has a name - just date & time.

I called Support - was told can only be changed with the app.
I told her repeatedly that I did NOT change it, and asked if I was hacked. She said no, but checked with Security - they suggested changing password - so I said I guess I WAS hacked, she said no.
She had no answer for why I should change my password.

The ionic only comes with  one default face and it does not have a photo.

In not sure which of the 600 faces that you're asking about. However if Fitbit doesn't know, we probably won't either.

I had one of the default clock faces, without any photo.

Somehow it got changed - I did NOT change it to include the kitten.

Last night I figured out how to change it to what I had originally.

I am concerned that Fitbit “Support” (?) was unable to explain it - only solution was to change my password.
That is not an acceptable explanation.

Thank you for your reply.

Well it would be possible for someone to log into your Fitbit account through any web browser and change your clock face. The next time your tracker syncs the face will change. It could even be a friend playing a joke.

Since a clock face can not change until the new face is requested to be loaded onto the the ionic, at some time something told your Fitbit account to change the clock.

Now it could be that somehow a piece of data in the settings accidentally got changed. Not likely but possible.

For someone to login and change the clock face, they would have to know my password, correct ?

How would they have gotten that ?

I will change my password just in case, but I doubt that is how it changed.

Thank you for your information.

I don't know anything about you, I don't know if you only use 1 or two passwords  I don't know if you have ever shared a lot in with anyone. It could be as simple as a young response to phishing.

They would also need to know your email address.

I don’t know anything about you either.
To be clear, I use different passwords for different apps.
I have NOT shared my passwords with anyone.
Still looking for explanation as to how my clock face changed
to include a photo of a kitten.
