@Derek_S Welcome to the Fitbit family! Your Ionic includes a feature called SmartTrack which will track those activities automatically. Please check this article for more details. Just note that it will recognize high-movement sports like tennis, basketball, soccer, and others. Sports that might not be recognized include those without continuous movement or that vary in intensity level, like golf.

What kind of sport are you trying to track?

There are also some sports on the list manually logged activities. You can also try to manually log them, this option is accurate!

I would like to track Curling as an activity, would the SmartTrack work for that?

@LMG484 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for your question about SmartTrack and curling.

Most likely, SmartTrack will track it as "Sports". You can then categorize the exercise to input that it was "Curling". You can do this by following these steps:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile.
  2. In your exercise history, tap the exercise to open the details and choose a different category.

The information that will be tracked under "Sports" should be accurate information about "Curling". Give it a try to check how it goes.

Another option you can try is manually adding the activity. You should try both option to see which one will reflect the most accurate data for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Hi there,

I'm wondering what's the best way to go about tracking sports where the watch can't be on your wrist. For example I tried playing field hockey with the watch hidden in a pouch on a waist strap. I didn't activate any sports mode and relied on Smart Track. It did register a sport for 1hr & 6mins, but didn't provide any data, like distance covered. I was hoping that the GPS would still track distance covered and also maybe things like average and max pace, even if it can't track steps and heart rate because it's not on my wrist?

Any tips?

What would happen if I set it to run mode manually before the game starts?
