How long should the Ionic screen display the time for?

In most cases, the 'wrist movement'  will activate the Ionic screen by displaying the time for about 2-3 seconds (which is fine). But on other occasions, the same wrist movement will result in the Ionic displaying the time for about 6-7 seconds (which is great).  Is the Ionic suppose to behave this?  Does the 'screen wake' have two different duration?

If you flick the other way, it goes off, so it may be that you’re experiencing
