So I’m in the market for a watch and was looking at the ionic because it has apps. I was wondering if MapMyRun is one of those. I want to be able to get routes and follow them using my watch but I’m not sure if there are any Fitbit watches that do this. To get maps/routes do I need a higher end garmin or Apple Watch?

Fitbit doesn't support uploading and following routes. You can do it with devices from Garmin, Polar or Suunto if you need navigation/route following/racing ghost.

So there isn’t a mapmyrun app either? I have it on my phone and if I have the app open I can open routes other people have run and see the distance as well as follow the route.

I don't think so. In general, Ionic (and other FItbit devices) can show you distance and pace (although this metric is kinda "iffy" in Fitbit world as rather that using the GPS input it approximates it using stride and steps count) but you won't be able to see the route on the watch or even direction you should be heading. Features like GPS navigation using routes or way points is not there. If you're a serious runner I recommend to look for something more sophisticated and designed for runners.
