I can't stop Ionic exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Ionic picks up when I am running but when I hit pause I can't get it to stop. Even when it asks if I am done and I press end it doesn't stop. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, @orracle, I haven't tried the auto detect run, but to stop a manual run you have to first press the bottom right button, and then when it asks you if you want to end the workout pressing the button doesn't end it.  You have to TAP the screen to end.

I think they designed two different cues for ending a workout, first a press and then a tap, to prevent workouts from being ended accidentally from wrist flexes or sleeves brushing the screen.  Now BOTH press and tap are required.

I am not sure that is your issue -- just a thought!

Thanks, Julia. I have a 5k Saturday and I can try it. Last race I was pressing "end" over and over and it wouldn't take.

Hi, @orracle, if it were me, in a race, where I really wanted to be sure to have a record, I would start the run manually using Run on the Ionic exercise app.  You can open it up, tap "running" and then just press the bottom right button when you start.  At the end, press bottom right to pause, and top right to end.  A message saying "End this exercise?" will come up.  This time you need to TAP rather than press a button.

As I said, I haven't tried out the auto detect run yet, because I always want to make sure my runs really count!  So I am not 100% certain it works the same.

Good luck on the 5k!

I'm having enough trouble getting MapMyRun to work with gloves so I don't think I can actually tap the watch in 30+ degree weather! (That's F not C) Maybe the next time I run indoors I will try it.

Haven't tried this in gloves, but I am guessing it is pressure sensitive, rather than skin/touch.

Nothing has helped--tapping, pressing...I'm just going to turn off the automatic and wait until I can start it for a specific time. I can't even get it to turn off after a race.
